ABOUT
I’ve been an artist and an equestrian since the age of four.
Sounds a bit funny, but yes, the age of four. The artist came about in restaurants when my dad used the menus and napkins as our canvas to draw whatever object came to mind…fighter jets, puppies, corvettes, and many horses of course! The equestrian, well that began earlier when I was in a backpack riding along with mom, until the age of four when I sat in the saddle and took my first pony ride to the barn. Yes, I was a very happy little artistic equestrian!
Horses and art have been a constant throughout my life. My love of teaching began as I helped my fellow 4-H members improve their riding and kept my enthusiasm for horses and art alive through college. I earned an Associate’s Degree in the Fine Arts: Painting and Illustration from Luzerne County Community College in 2003 and a Bachelors Degree in Equestrian Sciences: Instruction and Training from William Woods University in 2006. After receiving the Outstanding Instructor Award in college, I realized sharing my passion for horses and the arts was the best job I could ever find. I moved on to manage horse farms and teach riding lessons in Mississippi, New York and Pennsylvania. After seven relocations in eight years, oooh baby that was fun!, my husband and I finally settled on a small farm in Noxen, PA.
After many years in the making, Artistic Equestrian officially launched in 2014 and with a lot of work and a little luck will evolve into the Equine and Art Assisted Learning Program I first envisioned in 2001. Many thanks to a wonderful husband, loving family, and those along the way who listened to my ramblings and turned me around when I got a bit lost. I am truly blessed…welcome to my journey!
